A blast from the past

3 years ago, Fern Bay Black played host to the S1 Finale with a massive 50 laps to be completed. Racers were encouraged to choose any car of their choice as each car had been allocated a place in one of three divisions. The winner of each division would enter a final showdown.

Again it was an SCR whitewash with Rots taking out the GTi/GT division, Chaz the fastest of the TBO’s and Scottie took out the MRT5/LX6 group. The handicap final showdown race at Fern Bay Black between the three great drivers was one of the most exciting spectacles ever seen in Live For Speed. Rots led the way and was through the chicane before Chaz was released. Scottie followed and they all drove on the limit around the 6.6 km Fern Bay Black circuit.

This legendary AAL race has now been recorded onto a movie so that everyone new and old can witness the sheer excitement available to all Australasian LFS racers!

SCR Still Going Strong!

:: Posted by Sarsippius :: Saturday, 4th March 2006 :: Comments (4) ::

It's been quite some time since there has been an update on our front page so I thought that with another AAL series just finished and a new one just on the horizon it's about time to say what's been going on with SCR.

We are still going strong and that is reflected in our results in the AAL, when Sambo joined us we had just completed the Kyoto 3hr where SCR took the podium in an eventful race where the three main SCR teams all had a shot at victory. This had followed directly from the AAL GTR series with the top four spots going to SCR drivers. Chaz in first followed by 9ra55h0ppaH, Scottie and myself with Bugle and Blitzer finishing 7th & 8th respectively.

The Flying Fox Festival wasn't so successfull though, Chaz still took out the series but he and Bugle were the only two to compete in all the races with Buges finishing in 9th. For various reasons most SCR drivers could only make one or two races and PRT was able to beat us in the team standings.

The Hot Hatch Summer Series got underway early in 2006 featuring the XFR and it was time re-assert our dominance. Four SCR drivers were able to complete all races which saw us take out the championship podium again thanks to some great driving in the final race of the series, the Blackwood 3hr. It was an eventful series with the first race at KY Nat Rev featuring a couple of rare mistakes from Chaz who finished in 8th. Scottie was able to take the win though with myself in fourth followed by Latch in fifth and Rotary and Bugle in 10th and 18th respectively.

Race two at South City Long Rev saw Chaz back to his usual self taking out the win with Latch coming second. After a mistake attempting to pass Bugle I fell back but eventually made my way back up to 8th with Bugle one place behind. Unfortunately Scottie had to pull out of the race and the rest of the series due to outside commitments.

Race three at Aston National proved a little tricky with tyre choice, not so much the fronts as you might expect but the long straights saw the rear tyres struggle to keep the heat in them. Chaz won again but Latch suffered some problems late in the race whilst running strong when he didn't change his rears during his pitstop and had troubles keeping the back end in check. I finished fifth after some tussling with Bugle saw us both lose a lot of time with him finishing the race in eighth and Latch back in 12th.

It was then time for the Blackwood 3hr which saw Chaz and Sambo team up, Scottie with Bugle and Latch and myself teaming up once again. It turned out to be a very tough and eventful race with the favourites Chaz and Sambo ending up in third behind Scottie and Bugle with Latch and I bringing it home for our first win in the AAL. We drove a clean and consistent race which saw us in good position early after an uncharacteristic mistake from Chaz. The final pitstops saw Sambo about 8s behind myself with about 15 minutes to go but possibly in the effort of chasing me down he rolled it a few times finishing behind Scottie. The results really helped our standings in the championship with the slightly altered points structure seeing Chaz place first yet again, myself in second followed by Latch who tied for third with the AR driver Boxhead.

Now we look towards the next AAL series the MHR Street Showdown which looks to present some unique challenges with a different road car featured in each race.

Southern Cross Racing doesnt often take on new members. But that doesnt mean we dont keep our eye out for new talent on the Australian LFS scene. Recently we've been impressed by a young racer, very impressed. His speed, commitment and enthusiasm couldn't go ignored. So for the first time in over a year SCR would like to welcome a new member. We're very pleased that Sambo is now part of Southern Cross Racing. We'll done Sam and welcome to SCR.

Southern Cross Racing Celebrates 2nd Birthday!

:: Posted by Cutter :: Thursday, 29th September 2005 :: Comments (5) ::

Two years ago the world witnessed the birth of Australia's premier LFS team, Southern Cross Racing (SCR).

Since our celebrations from last year our team has seen and been a part of many significant changes to LFS and its local Australian Community. The much awaited release of S2 Alpha, relocation & growth of ARSE, the independence of the Australasian League and the arrival of a number new local LFS teams.

On the social front we've had a hoot of a year with members fronting up to the last Melbourne ARSE meet, getting together at Cutters place and at a pub when 9ra55 migrated to Melbourne for a few nights from Tassie in January.

Call that a Chicken Parma!!!!

SCR is proud to have assisted norbs in his "help norbs help the kids" charity bike ride from Sydney to Melbourne, and the get together afterwards with fellow ARSE members once again saw the return of the Chicken Parma.

Norbs told tales of his "hardship" whilst Rots, in his drunken stupor, passed on the overused and no longer funny jokes.

But it's the racing SCR does, and does best. We've had a very strong and successful result over the past year. Some of our most notable highlights:

AAL Triple Turbo Trio Series - 27 Oct 2004
Drivers' Championship:
1st. Chaz
2nd. Scottie
3rd. Latch

Team Championship:
1st. [SCR] #1 (Latch, Sarsippius)
2nd. [SCR] #3 (Scottie, Doso)
3rd. SCR.Wheeln00bs (Chaz, 9ra55h0ppaH)

AAL S1 Finale Shoot-out - 19 Nov 2004
1st. Chaz
2nd. Scottie
3rd. Rotary

AAL GTR Series – 20 July 2005
1st Chaz
2nd 9ra55h0ppaH
3rd Scottie
4th Sarsippius

Plus many single events, including an all SCR podium in last nights first AAL teams event.

In typical SCR fashion nothing is done without the drunkards amongst us letting loose and this weekend we'll play host to our birthday celebrations.

Be prepared to get pissed, smash your car and have a not so sane time. The motto: "Hard liquor, loose women and fast racing."

So, jump online, wish us a happy birthday and have a few rounds.
